Role Summary

Cayman National Bank (Isle of Man) Limited (CNBIOM) is seeking a Banking Operations Director with primary responsibility for overseeing the bank’s day-to-day operational functions. The Banking Operations Director will ensure efficient and effective management of Payments & Operations, First Line Risk / Health & Safety, IT, and Project Management. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong operational background and the ability to drive internal performance to support CNBIOM’s overarching growth strategies.

The Banking Operations Director is responsible for ensuring the Bank’s operational excellence and efficiency. This role is pivotal in driving the strategic vision of the Bank by overseeing critical functions. The role holder will work closely with the Managing Director and the Board to devise and implement strategies that enhance the Bank’s performance; whilst ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement through innovation and efficiencies. This role is a Board-level appointment.

Essential functions and role responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership - Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the Bank’s overall objectives.
  • Operational Management- Oversee Payments & Operations, ensuring smooth/efficient/accurate transaction processing and customer service, with appropriate internal monitoring and reporting 
  • Risk Management -Lead the first line Risk function, ensuring robust risk management practices are in place and working collaboratively with the Head of Risk & Compliance and relevant group functions.  Establish / monitor key operational risk indicators (KRIs)
  • Performance Monitoring - Establish / monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and effectiveness, including production of insightful MI for key internal/external  stakeholders. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive operational excellence.
  • Technology Oversight - Oversee ICT function, ensuring the bank’s technology infrastructure supports its operational needs and remains competitive.
  • Project Management - Lead key projects, to ensure they are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.

 Education/Certification

  • Post graduate degree in a relevant topic is preferred
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g. Prince 2) are advantageous

Required knowledge

  • A strong working knowledge of banking systems and procedures
  • A solid and practical understanding of banking risk and regulatory requirements
  • High-level and effective transformation / change management experience
  • Very good practical experience of project management processes and related  industry standards
  • Experience in using a variety of business software applications including Power BI  or similar

Minimum experience

  • Proven board level experience in a senior operational or similar executive leadership role, in the banking and financial services industry.
